Plymouth Eels step closer to place to play

PLYMOUTH (Jan. 11) n Two months after publicly unveiling their plans to bring minor league baseball to Plymouth, a group of investors disclosed it has tentatively agreed to purchase the land upon which they hope to build a stadium for the non-existent team.

Bay Colony Baseball & Athletics LLC last week signed a purchase-and-sale agreement for 28.1 acres of land behind the Wal-Mart Supercenter at the sprawling Colony Place shopping plaza in West Plymouth.

PLYMOUTH - Southeastern Massachusetts is a step closer to establishing a second independent baseball team.

Bay Colony Baseball and Athletics LLC, this week signed a purchase and sale agreement on a 28-acre parcel behind the Wal-Mart in the Colony Place shopping center, off Route 3, for a 5,500-seat baseball stadium and indoor sports facility proposed in Plymouth.

A group planning to bring an independent professional baseball club to Plymouth would like to break ground on a 5,500-seat stadium next year so the first game can be played in 2007.

Representatives of Bay Colony Baseball and Athletics LLC said they are close to signing a purchase and sale agreement on 28 acres near the Sam’s Club at the Colony Place shopping center.

PLYMOUTH - Baseball? Bring it on, say town officials, but put it in the right place.

Town officials are excited about the prospect of a minor league baseball team in Plymouth, but say the proposed 5,000-seat domed stadium must be sited carefully.

A group of local investors led by state Rep. Thomas O’Brien, D-Kingston, have launched Bay Colony Baseball and Athletics LLC.
