Pitchers and catchers have reported to Fort Myers. Spring training is underway. And baseball nuts like me couldn’t be happier. But before I get into the Red Sox later this week, there was a little taste of baseball right here in America’s Hometown yesterday.  more

 
River Eels Hold Baseball Clinic

“There are five types of ground balls you should learn about fielding,” explained Brain Trupiano to the group of youngsters gathered around him. “They are the standard straight ground ball right in front of you, forehand, cross over back-hand, feet planted back-hand and charge play on a slow roller.” Changing his body positioning and his arm angles, Trupiano continued to show how to make each of these plays, and had each of the young ball players practice the same.

Fielding was one of three baseball skills taught by former professional ballplayers to more than one hundred boys and girls who attended last month's baseball clinic put on by the Plymouth River Eels.

River Eels to Host Baseball Clinic
UPDATED!!!!The Plymouth River Eels will be hosting a Baseball Clinic for kids aged 6-18 on Saturday February 16 from 11-1 as part of Colony Place's Hometown Sports Day.  Former professional ball players will be on hand to offer tips and skills and drills on stretching, throwing, fielding, and hitting. The event will be indoors at the event room at Colony Place. Youngsters should wear comfortable clothes and bring along their baseball mitts.

The River Eels Clinic is just one of many events taking place at Hometown Sports Day. Click here for Colony Place's ad. Bruins alumni will be appearing to sign autographs, auctionPAL will be on hand to help you sell your unwanted sports equipment and sports-themed items, a lecture on the science of baseball will be offered, plus much more!
